Rebekah Brooks Released After Questioning

News of the World

After 12 hours of questioning in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, Rebekah Brooks and husband Charlie Brookes have been released on bail.

Former News of the World editor Rebekah Brooks and husband Charlie were charged with conspiracy to pervert the course of justice after dawn raids after being arrested during dawn raids on Wednesday.

According to police, the arrest “followed consultation with the Crown Prosecution Services”.

Ms Brooks was appointed editor of News of the World in 2000 by Rupert Murdoch. She forged close ties with many high-profile people, including David Cameron who recently came under scrutiny after admitting to riding Ms Brooks’ former police horse.

If convicted, the couple could potentially face life in prison but this is unlikely. The longest sentence received for perverting the course of justice in the past century is 10 years.
