Euromillions Couple Make Friends “Millionaires”

After announcing their £101m lottery win, Dave and Angela Dawes say they will now make 20 friends and family millionaires.

A British couple who won £101m in the Euromillions jackpot on Friday announced they will be giving away part of their fortune to family, friends and charity.

Dave and Angela Dawes expressed their shock at winning £101,203,600.70 – the third largest lottery jackpot in UK history – and said they would now make 20 people millionaires.

The couple plan to give £1m each to close friends and family members. “We’ve drawn up a list of 20 people who we are going to make millionaires,” said Mr Dawes, adding that the money would go to “anyone who has helped us through our lives”.

It is also believed that the couple will donate a large sum of money to the British Heart Foundation (BHF); however, nothing has yet been confirmed by the charity.

Ms Dawes, 42, has worked for a local BHF store for two years and her colleagues released a statement today.

“We’re absolutely delighted for Angie having won the lottery,” said Janet Kenworth, BHF shop manager. “She is such a warm and lovely person and she really deserves it.

Ms Kenworth added: “We hope she will come back and visit us in the shop to celebrate with some tea and cake!”

Also at yesterday’s press conference, Mr Dawes, 47, announced his retirement from being a shift supervisor at Premier Food. The avid Chelsea fan also announced plans to move near Stamford Bridge and purchase a season ticket.

“I’m not worried about getting a box,” he said. “I want to stand with the real fans and watch my team play. I’d also love to live near the ground and have Frank Lampard come for a cup of tea.”

Mr and Ms Dawes are now the 703rd in The Sunday Times Rich List, placing ahead of singer and songwriter David Bowie.
