Gavin Henson’s Rugby Career at Stake following ‘Inappropriate Behaviour’
April 2, 2012 Nicola |
The Blues player has been forced to apologise for his “inappropriate behaviour” following an alcohol fuelled incident on a flight.
The player has admitted drinking before and during a flight from Glasgow to Cardiff following their game against Glasgow Warriors on Friday, which they lost 31-3. Henson admits: “I have let my team mates, coaches, management, sponsors and indeed my family down with my actions.”
It was announced in a statement by the Cardiff Blues on Saturday night that Henson was to be suspended with immediate effect. The statement read: “Cardiff Blues can confirm that Gavin Henson has been suspended with immediate effect following an incident on the flight back from Scotland after their match against Glasgow Warriors last night.”
Although no comment has been made on exactly what took place during the flight, Henson commented: “I can see that drinking and behaving inappropriately on that flight as a professional sportsman at 7am has caused offence to members of the public, the Flybe Airline staff and passengers.”
The Cardiff Blues will meet today to discuss what further action to take.
Flybe Airline have announced that they will carry out their own investigation.
