Jordy Nelson, wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers has signed a new three-year deal with the Wisconsin based team.
Nelson has signed a new three-year deal with the Packers that is worth $13 million. Nelson was set to become a free agent at the end of the season but has now made a deal that will keep him at Lambeau Field until 2014.
The Kansas-born wide receiver has become the number two receiver at the Green Bay Packers, the current Super bowl champions. Nelson has made 15 receptions for 332 yards in the first four games of the season, which has helped the Packers win all of their games so far.
Nelson is only behind Gregg Jennings in receptions and yards and has become one of Packers quarter-back Aaron Rodgers’ more comfortable options.
Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said he is “very happy for Jordy Nelson”, adding: “Personally, any time you see one of your players that is drafted and he’s developed, he’s earned everything he’s accomplished to this point. Looking forward to many years to come with Jordy Nelson.”
Nelson stated that his decision to stay at the Packers was not because of the money but because he “loves winning”.
“I don’t know why you would want to leave a team like this, an organization like this,” he said.
26-year-old Nelson will now be looking to keep improving this season and continue his hard work with the Packers to have another successful season within the North Division.
