The Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Milwaukee Brewers 10-6 to make a great comeback in the series after being 2-0 down.
The Diamondbacks beat the Brewers last night to take the series to a fifth game on Friday night after losing the first two games. Most people had written the Diamondbacks off after being 13-5 down in total after the first two games, but they demolished the Brewers 8-1 in the third game and won 10-6 last night.
Ryan Roberts and Chris Young were two key individuals in Arizona’s victory as their contribution gave the Diamondbacks victory.
Milwaukee took the lead in the first through Ryan Braun but this did not last long as Ryan Roberts hit a home run with all the bases loaded, which gave the team a score of four points. Young then finished off the first with his first homer of the night, giving the Diamondbacks a 5-1 lead at the end of the inning.
The Diamondbacks added two more in the third but Milwaukee were not out of it yet as they continued to chip away at the score. But Arizona increased their lead in the seventh with two more points including another home run from Young.
All the Brewers could do after this point was decrease the deficit as Carlos Gomez brought them to within four points. This win means that the series will be decided in a final game on Friday where the winner takes all.
Elsewhere, the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-3 after leading 2-0 after the top of the first. The Cardinals battled their way back into the game and by the end of the fourth led 3-2. They further increased their lead when David Freese hit a home run, and they gained two points.
Philadelphia did manage to get one back in the eighth when Michael Martinez scored but it was not enough and now the Phillies will face the Cardinals on Friday for a fifth game and decider.
