London Fashion Week, which commences this Friday in Somerset House, is set to play host to celebrated eco-fashion label ‘Estethica’.
The label, sponsored by Monsoon and founded by The British Fashion Council (BFC), has been hailed as the hub of London’s ethical fashion industry, both internationally and in the UK.
According to Estethica, clothes designed for the company must adhere to at least one of its key principles of ethical trade; the inclusion of organic fibres and the use of up-cycled and recycled materials and fabrics.
Monsoon, sponsors of Estethica since 2007, have commented: “Now in our ninth consecutive season, Monsoon is hugely proud to be continuing its sponsorship of Estethica. As founding members of the Ethical Trading Initiative we feel it is vital to encourage and support the emerging talent in this field.”
Caroline Rush, CEO of the BFC, said: “As Estethica continues to lead the way in showcasing ethical fashion, both the quality and diversity of the designer collections in the exhibition make the Estethica showcase a London Fashion Week highlight.”
Livia Firth, the founder of Eco-Age, a corporate consultancy agency and eco-fashion pioneer, will be offering an ethically focussed coverage of The London Fashion Week.
Eco-Age will also join Stella McCartney for an event in the designer’s flagship store in London, showcasing her collection of eco-friendly designs.
Eco-Age has gained prominence in the eco-fashion world; putting stars at the Venice Film Festival up for the ‘Green Carpet Challenge’, an initiative to encourage publicity for ethical designs.
